A majority of uric acid is reabsorbed by the body, while the rest excreted into the feces and urine. If the quantity of purines present in the body is greater than it is able to process, uric acid builds up in blood vessels, creating the condition known as hyperuricemia. Hyperuricemia results in the accumulation of crystals of uric acids within the body. This could cause kidney stones and Gout. However, some individuals do not show any signs. It's recommended that people with hyperuricemia peanuts and gout avoid or limit eating foods that are high in purines to help reduce the purine load in the body. Purines-rich foods include some sugary foods and red meats, as well as seafood, organ meats alcohol, and yeasts. Sugars Sugar can increase levels of uric acids. Fructose, a natural sugar that is present in certain foods is also referred to as fructose. Fructose, as well as the high-fructose corn syrup added to some foods may increase serum uric acid levels. Sugar-sweetened beverages can increase uric acid levels in blood. Studies have shown that sugar-sweetened beverages are associated with a higher risk of hyperuricemia as well as gout in adults. Avoid sugar-sweetened beverages including soda or soft drinks or energy drinks. Also, avoid sports drinks.
